Thank you for your interest in becoming a part of the Camp Fire Pet Rescue and Reunification team! This team is modeled after the Sonoma and Napa Fires team created in the aftermath of the Tubbs fire. We have taken that model and set up new teams in the subsequent Carr Fire, Mendocino Complex Fire and now the Camp Fire.
Each team is made up of local community members and is a long haul effort of at least a year. We are here to set you up for success and then will retreat to a consulting and support effort while you take the reins. This is YOUR team.
There are many equally important ways you can volunteer: as part of the online Administration Team, our Matching Team, our Trapping Team or as a Feeding Station Monitor.
This is a team effort with organizational structure. There are procedures for all aspects of it as well as lots of documentation (database, scheduling calendars, feeding station, camera and traps location and status update spreadsheets, etc). We are Facebook-based so there are several aspect-specific Messenger threads as well as general threads for the two groups.
This effort is huge and will impact your life in the most amazing way. It may involve hours of hard work, but the first time you see the joy that a reunification brings to the people who have lost everything, you will be hooked! You will also meet amazing, selfless people along the way and create some lifelong friendships. And of course, all of it is for this goal: to take on the piece of finding lost pets for the owners so that they can focus on all of the other things that they need to do during a very stressful time.
